If You Are In The Mood for .....

some SEX ( you know Stash, Enhancement eXperience) then you should hop on over the Silver Needle where they are having their annual Super Bowl Sale. I think everything is 20% off today and tomorrow. I was just there (the website) and did some shopping myself! Years ago I used to get up in the wee hours of the morning and head off to Tulsa to shop at the sale. Now I basically use their website to do my shopping.

I am at this current moment home alone! WooHoo! Jonathon went to a sleepover last night, and Dan is off to the shop to do some welding. I am about to go upstairs and try and decide if I should start a new cross-stitch project or finish a WIP. I know it is not like trying solve the current economic crisis, or bring about world peace, but as a cross-stitcher this is a major decision.

Have a great Saturday!

A Finish and a Snow Day!

Tonight I finished Bent Creek's Stars and Stripes Forever.
I need to pull thread for my secret project and get that underway soon.

Well, we finally got our first snow day of the school year. Granted the nasty weather didn't come in until about 30 minutes before school got out. Once it started the roads got very slick quite fast. Our little twenty to fifteen minute drive home took approximately 45 minutes to an hour. However, we are all home safe and sound, so that is what is important.

Tomorrow's plans include some stitching, laundry and perhaps some household projects that need some attention. I plan on sitting down and making a list of things that need to be done and start going down through it . Jonathon just found a new Indiana Jones Legos Set he can not live without. It's about thirty dollars and he has about one in his wallet, so he might be in the mood to help out for a week or two to earn some money.

Have a good Tuesday! Talk to you soon!

And Now For a Weekend Update...

a boring weekend update. I never realized how mundane my life was until I started a blog. Jonathon is over the strep throat, but still taking antibiotics. He has a big sleepover planned to celebrate a friend's birthday next Friday.

Dan made his trek to Iowa and back. Jonathon and I enjoyed some time with just the two of us. Wednesday night we played several games of Connect 4 and Chutes and Ladders. No television or video games, just some fun time together. Thursday night we tackled the homework missed at school. Happily my mom cooked dinner for us that night so we got an early start. What a little stack that was! It didn't take that long, until we had to draw and explain the water cycle.

Right now on the stitching front I am closing in on the end of Bent Creek's Stars and Stripes Forever. I should finish it sometime this week. Maybe I will even take a picture of it. I have a top secret project to start and finish after that, then I think I will restart those awful cows in a snowstorm Dan wants done.

According to the weatherman my chances for a snow are marginal this next week, but those odds are better then what I have had so far. You know it just hasn't seemed like winter yet. I mean we had a few flurries here and there, very cold temps, but not a good old fashioned winter storm. Last year we had snow and two booming ice storms. I guess old man winter took his buiness farther East this year.

Right now the boys are watching a DVD in the basement, so I think I will go back to my stitching and see how much I can accomplish before bedtime. After the movie we have CCD homework to do before Mass tomorrow. That is always a ton of fun. Jonathon's CCD teacher always asks what the priest talked about in church. Every Sunday as we are leaving church Jonathon asks "what did he talk about, Florence will want to know."

Everyone have a great week with lots of stitches to boot.

We Missed History

Yesterday was the day a historic event happened, but Jonathon and I missed it. I got up not feeling well, so I called in sick. I gave Dan instructions for making Jonathon's lunch and whatnot before heading back to bed. Right as I was about to nod off Jonathon was in the bedroom near tears explaining how bad his throat hurt. Long story short, he stayed home also. I called his peditrician and got an appointment and we spent the most historic moment in recent history waiting for our strep swab test thingy to come back in exam room 6. Yep, he had strep and I had some cruddy winter thing.

So today we are all on the mend, I went back to work and Jonathon stayed home one more day. The antibiotics must be kicking in as he wants to go to Wal-Mart.

Dan is on his way to Iowa with his brother, two sisters, and a niece to attend the funeral of his cousin Cindy.

Cindy was in a car wreck a couple of weeks ago and died of complications from those injuries Saturday. It was a shock to hear the news. She was a great gal. She always added life to the party with her quick wit and sense of humor. It isn't often that all of Dan's cousins get together, but when they do it is as if they just saw each other yesterday. I am sure through the sadness of her service tomorrow there will also be lots of smiles to go with fond memories of her. We love and miss you Cindy.

Everyone have a wonderful Thursday and Friday. The weekend is not far away.

Another Day in the Life

Well, not a lot has been happening here. We have had a very calm week. Some stitching was accomplished on the the Stars and Stripes Forever. The kids at school were all in a good humor and doing what they were supposed to be doing.

This was our weekend to work church bingo. We have quite a little bingo operation at our church that enables us to do a lot of things financially we wouldn't be able to do otherwise. Most of the time we use the money for upkeep projects, but other times the money we make has gone to help out parishoners who are sick with an long-term illness etc.

Anyway, it being our bingo weekend meant I had a lot of cooking to do for the concessions. I made a large pot of ham and beans, a homemade cheesecake (that miraculously did not get over brown in the oven), two dozen homemade cinnamon rolls, and a chocolate pie. I brought home a few leftover cinnamon rolls. Dan and Jonathon always complain that I only bake when it is for bingo so sometime this week I will make them a chocolate pie also.

Jonathon is piled up on the couch again with a low grade fever and sore throat. He hasn't strep yet this winter, but about every two weeks he complains of a sore throat and runs a fever. I am wondering if it could be his tonsils, but he always seems to be better a day later.

And I did get the housework done! So after laundry, today is a stitching day. Jonathon is out of school tomorrow, but I have in service. Why do I have in service? I don't know. We used to have this day off also, but tomorrow I get to sit in the HS cafeteria ALL day (on an uncomfortable chair) and listen to people talk. Yep, we get to that for six hours! I can't wait. I need to get to Wal-Mart this afternoon and find me a good magazine or two to read.

Have a good week.

I Hate Housework!

I have a list of things that I need to get done, but getting the motivation to get them done just isn't there. Afterall, I have stitching to do, not to mention the fact that I have to mentally prepare myself to start yet another Monday at work. That is both good and bad, another Monday puts us that much closer to the end of the school year, but it is still Monday, you know what I mean? I guess a good thing about this particular Monday is that we have a ballgame. That means we can wear our school shirts with sweats or jeans, ahhh!

I started a new project this week, the Bent Creek Star and Stripes Forever. A very simple pattern that is moving along quite nicely. I just went over the Twisted Stitcher this weekend and saw Vonna's post about her Heaven and Earth design she recently started. What a brave soul! If I ever try anything like that someone please come over and take my thread and needles from me.

The new year is bringing lots of changes to our household, hopefully good changes. We are no longer a farming family, it is a very long involved, sorid little affair that isn't fun to discuss. So let's just leave it at that. We are not sure what exactly Dan's next venture in life will be, but we are kind of excited to have him home on some sort of a schedule and see him with some free time. That in itself will be a huge adjustment, because Jonathon and I just aren't used to having him home that much. Last summer during wheat harvest, and planting beans he would leave at 7:30 and come home sometime around 11 that night. So all in all I think this will be a positive change.

Well, I had better go back and look over my list and see if I can't get at least a couple more things done on it. I am also taking dinner to a friend tonight, seems she is having a rough time with sick parents, three kids and a husband, so maybe this will give her a breather. I had to bring my co-pilot (my mom) on this adventure because she is the official homemade noodle maker! I can make noodles, but they don't look very appetizing.

Have a good week!

First Finish of 2009

Brigitte asked how I plan to finish this and I think I will frame it, but since the design already has a border around it I won't mat it.

Here it is the first finish for 2009--Prairie Schooler's Thanksgiving Comes Again. I really like the way this turned out. Ofourse, as always a picture with bad lighting doesn't do the design and colors justice, but this piece is filled with really complimentary, rich, fall flowers. I have kind of fallen in love with fall flowers and colors in the past two years. So this piece really caught my eye.

Happy Wednesday!

Coming Soon

A picture of a finished cross-stitch project! Yes, I know a rarity on this blog. So rare in fact some readers (there are readers out there right?) may think I don't really even stitch. Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest...you know tomorrow it is back to the old grind. But I am getting oh so close to being finished. Until then...
Have a wonderful Monday and ask the snow gods to send me some of the white stuff, a lot of it.
